Johnny has once again been crowned the sought-after title of:
Player of the Year!!
Did you see it? Johnny was on Ripley's Believe it or Not! on September 3rd (Wednesday night). Although he won against Jeremy Jones, he did not break the speed record of running run two racks. It was obvious Johnny enjoyed himself and he put on a great show for the awesome crowd!
Ripley's Believe It or Not! invited Johnny and Jeremy Jones to a Speed Pool Challenge Match. The Speed Pool record was 1 minute and 30 seconds, and they had Jeremy and Johnny timed against each other to try and beat the record. They each had to break a rack of balls and then pocket all 15 balls, and then move to another table and break and do it again. They were in a warehouse in LA, where other challenge matches were also going on to beat records. Like a hot dog eating contest and the human scale (where two guys who were lying on their backs and concrete blocks were placed on them).
Johnny wins the Molson Cup! Back in May Johnny qualified for a spot in the Molson Cup (held in Laval Quebec Canada at Le Skratch Billiards) and on July 6th he won the tournament! Congratulations, Johnny! Read the full story here.

When not competing these athletes have been feted by their hosts to desert safaris, sightseeing tours, shopping trips, and even an audience with the ruler of the Emirate of Fujairah, His Highness Sheikh Hamad Bin Muhammad Al Sharqi. It has been an opportunity for people of different backgrounds to mingle and appreciate the lifestyles of one another. Write-up courtesy of AZBilliards.com:
Johnny Archer recovered from an early round 9-6 loss to Max Eberle to come from the one loss side and defeat Charlie Williams at the $1500 added event at Smiley's Place in Hampton Virginia.
Archer's chances looked slim early as Williams raced out to a 5-0 lead but scratched in game 6 and that was the opening Archer needed as he proceeded to run that rack and the next 10 in a row for an 11-5 lead. Charlie was able to get to the table in game 17 but could not close out the game and Archer won that and the next game for the 13-5 victory.
Archer commented after the tournament, "I'm starting to play much better with my new cue and my confidence is really coming back. I am starting to make shots I haven't made in years."
Archer won $1,100 for first while Williams pocketed $625 for
second. Current World 9-Ball Champion Mika
Immonen finished in third and won $475 while Max Eberle took fourth and $350 in prize money. Nick Varner and Slim Carney finished tied for 5th.
